Report from Lisbon Decentralized Wastewater Treatment International Standardization Conference (ISO/TC224/WG8)
The International Standardization Conference on Decentralized Wastewater Treatment was held on February 2-25 in Lisbon, Portugal.This meeting was hosted by the eighth working group (WG27) established within the ISO committee (TC224) that develops management standards for water and sewerage services. The official name of WG8 is "Onsite domestic wastewater management using low technologies", and its goal is "to develop basic technologies to improve sanitation in poor areas of developing countries". and prepare a supporting document (Technical Report: TR) on how it can be applied to the management of
WG8 has been held twice so far and has been working towards drafting the TR.At the Lisbon meeting, which was held for the third time this year, we spent time deliberating on the comments received from each country on the TR draft, which was started at the previous meeting, and reflecting it in future revisions of the draft.
In addition, a revision opinion on the current WG8 title and scoop was submitted, and it was discussed and a revised draft was created.However, the amendment will need to be submitted to the TC6 general meeting in Israel in June for approval.
The conference was attended by 6 people from 10 countries: Kenya, Austria, Portugal, Zambia, France and Japan.From Japan, Mr. Xinbi Yang of Japan Education Center of Environmental Sanitation is present.
